Sharmistha has been working as an arts programmer since 2000. She started her career as a programme officer at The Seagull Foundation for the Arts where she contributed extensively towards executing, ideating and conceptualizing an array of arts projects and programmes. She moved on to setting up an independent art’s centre with the Weaver Studio and then worked with HMV Saregama as a producer of alternate music content and animation films. In 2010 she joined the Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan Kolkata as the Cultural Programme Officer. Apart from conceptualizing and executing a varied number of projects and programmes internationally, she has been deeply involved in working with a variety of civil society organizations in India and globally within the real politik of art applications. The collaborative nature of her work has made her closely connected to a spectrum of artists and resource people globally. Her special interest lies in film programming and curation. She loves acting, reading and exploring new ideas and content in the field of arts in its diversity.
