Astrid Wege is the director of the Goethe-Institut Kolkata. After studying cultural sciences at the University of Hildesheim, she worked for many years as a curator and publicist in the field of contemporary art; until 2014, she headed the European Kunsthalle in Cologne. In 2014 she began her work at the Goethe-Institut Moscow as head of the cultural programs with a regional assignment for Eastern Europe and Central Asia. Starting in November 2020 she takes over as director of the Goethe-Institute in Kolkata, India.
