Sreedharan, the only son of Theyyam artist Govindan is obliged to perform the ritual of Bhagavati (Goddess) Theyyam after their father’s death. Sreedharan who grew up adoring the delicate beauty of Bhagavati wishes to become a woman, is trapped in the dilemma of their choice between their identity and performing the ritual which is restricted to the male members of their family. His mother who, from their childhood, has found her son’s behaviour “different from others” is terrified by Sreedharan’s wish of becoming a woman. She urges them to perform the titual as it was the last wish of Govindan and asks to arrange for the performance.
